Episode 165: A Reopen Question
News and More: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases linked to Country Side Living in Canby, sadly, has risen to nine. The state is threatening "serious legal repercussions" if Oregon City allows businesses to reopen in violation of the governor's order. The Joint Emergency Board passes a $32 million coronavirus relief package aimed at disadvantaged renters, workers and small businesses.
Canby Conversation: The idea of reopening an economy ravaged by the Covid-19 shutdown has risen to the forefront of discussion recently. Today, we host a far-ranging discussion on this topic between the mayors of two neighboring communities, Canby and Oregon City. Mayors Hodson and Holladay have — perhaps — differing views of the threat posed by the novel coronavirus, but very similar frustrations with the state's seeming lack of responsiveness to the challenges facing their communities — and hundreds of others across Oregon.
